WASHINGTON - President Bush' name insisted that the small trade agreement with six Latin American nations would pay big dividends for security, stability and freedom in the Western Hemisphere. After persistent lobbying by the White House, Congress finally agreed.
It took personal visits from the president and vice president, along with strenuous arm-twisting from Republican leaders, before the House passed the Central American Free Trade Agreement early Thursday by a two-vote margin, 217-215.
The Senate approved CAFTA last month 54-45, and it now goes to the president for his signature.
It was a major victory for the Bush administration, which had to fend off claims by critics that the pact would harm American workers. "CAFTA helps ensure that free trade is fair trade," the president said in a statement following the vote. "By lowering trade barriers to American goods in Central American markets to a level now enjoyed by their goods in the U.S., this agreement will level the playing field and help American workers, farmers and small businesses."

CAFTA passes
CAFTA passes. I'm not sure how wonderful it is. According to the story, the Prez says it does wonders for security. How? Either because he is trying to court Latinos or he is in the pocket by some big donors that like cheap labor, he scoffs at any attempt to secure the borders, yet CAFTA is supposed to do wonders?

Headline from June 23, 2007:
In light of the recent relevation that a wing of the Lourve will now display Islamic Art, (financed with French and Saudi money) the Crystal Ball Society of America has looked into the future and retreived this headline from Al-Reuters:
In order to be sensitive to the Muslim community of France and to show their
commitment to multiculturalism, France will rename Notre Dame, Al-Jihad Mosque.
Non-Muslims will not be allowed in to visit.
Muslims have argued that
disputes between Muslims and non-Muslims should be decided by Sharia. To
showcase his highted level of understanding Domenique DeVillipan, French Prime
Minister, is proposing instituting Sharia for all French citizens.

What Bush Should Be Doing
If Bush was to carve a Reagan-like legacy for himself, it cannot be done in the mushy area known as the center. Disregard advisors who claim popularity lies by moving towards the left.
- Address the open borders. Why is there so much hostility against any sort of border control? Is it big donors? It is the mythical latino vote.
- Iraq has become a proxy war with Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia. Their attitude towards controlling terrorism and "insurgents" is disingenuous at best. A cruise missle or two where it hurts (a refinery?) may be needed. Of course, pretend like it was an explosion. Throw out similar bullshit. Try: "We feel sorry for your explosion. America is a country of peace."
- Eliminate special interest groups that receive overseas funding.
- There is no way to make any friends on the left. Give them nothing. The people of America voted for you because they believed more in your agenda. Democrats only scream about a consensus when they lose elections.
- Do not allow the new Iraq to become Islamic. Do not allow Sharia.
- China is not our friend. Tread lightly.
- Stop giving away so much money, especially to less than stellar nations. Insist on economic reforms in countries where aid is given.

I'm Back and So is Reuters
Let's see, the London Train Bombings on 7/7 died out of the news very quickly. Now all there is left is something to do with Karl Rove, but I have no interest in the story. Our friends at Reuters took a pass shot at General Westmoreland. Who edits this stuff?
"Retired Gen. William Westmoreland, who commanded U.S. forces during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1968 and advocated a strong military buildup at a time when American casualties were mounting, has died. "
