Forbes Magazine: Castro worth US$ 1 Billion
Forbes Magazine is saying that the Maximum Leader, leader of the free Cuban people, and envy of marxist professors in all of the free world is worth US$1 Billion. Last time I checked, that's more than George Bush, who is Hitler, and Castro has outlasted 8 U.S. Presidents. The man just keeps winning elections. Did I mention they have free health care? Who's moving to Cuba?

Well, Forbes are being more than a little mischevious. It seems that, to them, his 'wealth' is actually the capital assets of the Cuban state. Given that they do not include Buckingham Palace and the Crown Jewels when calculating the Queen's wealth - only taking her 'private' wealth into account - this list is demonstrably hypocritical.
And Castro's comments are quite right. Are you suggesting that he has built up a private fortune? That he is a kleptocrat? Putting aside what you think of Castro, do you actually believe that he has massive personal, private wealth?
I think what Forbes is doing is counting assets that Castro controls indisputabily. The queen can't sell Buckingham or the Crown Jewels, but she has other assets which she can. Castro's control of the Cuban government is vastly different than the Britih monarch's. If he wanted to sell (I think they call their presidential palace the Rose House), no one in Cuba is going to stop him.
I don't know their methodology, but yeah, I think Castro is a giant kleptocrat. Almost every single dictator is. Even if Fidel really doesn't care that much about money, I'd bet serious money the Castro family is socking away tens if not hundreds of millions in offshore accounts for the inevitable day when they fall from power.
Fidel might be an old school revolutionary, but his neices and nephews sure aren't.
So, you bet serious money. But you have no evidence, or even any serious suggestions. Surely you are a better gambler than that?
And do you really think that Castro could sell Cuba's nationalised industries for personal profit? Even if he 'could', you are not a kleptocrat until you actual do loot a nations coffers, just as you are not a thief simply because you could, in the future steal something.
Have you been taking your doublethink pills again?
You failed to respond to my point about Castro's family. Do you really think they are toiling diligently away for the sake of the Cuban people?
Castro is an evil dictator, why do you put so much effort into defending him?
One other thing that makes Castro a kleptocrat is that he has "stolen" the leadership of the country for 47 years. No free country has the same leader for 47 years. He "steals" all of the foreign currency as ordinary Cubans aren't allowed to legally posess any.
Castro is a kleptocrat.
